FRIDAY FRIDAY

FRIDAY!! YEAH!!
Well, I survived my week from u know where. OY. The train meeting on Weds night was very informative. I rode over to SP with Stacey and we caught up a bit. I am still not sure how I am giong to get on that train now that they have changed the departure time, but I have "time" to figure it out.

Last night I was at school until after 8pm with report card pick up and conferences. It all went very smoothly and none of the parents were surprised with any grades. 3rd nine weeks they tend to slide and slack, so they will hopefully get back on track now as the year is not over yet.

Today ended up being a particularly stressful day for me and I cried in front of my entire class, not once but twice. UGH.
Nothing terrible, just complete and total aggrevation that I do NOT need. However, none of it cant' and won't be dealt with so my momentary breakdown aside, I can deal with aggrevation.

I am very thankful that the weekend is here, with NO plans. I only have three days of school next week as we leave for Philly on Thurs morning. When we return, it will be SPRING BREAK and I am soooooooo very ready.

Have a great weekend. I plan to.

cool snap

Wow, woke up this morning and it is DEF. crisp out there. Luv it, but actually have the heat on to warm it up downstairs.

Easter Sunday was a very nice day around here. Joshy was ECSTATIC over all of the goodies that the Easter Bunny left for him and I was pretty thankful that the majority of it was NOT candy. He got a bunch of dvd's that he is torturing us with watching-LOL. One of his favorites was his fireman costume that he fought with us about taking off. I will post photos in a minute. He also got a very cool Lionel choo choo lite up crossing sign that is also a bank. What a lucky little man.

We ate outside by the pool for the first time and it really was a nice day all the way around.

I have a very busy week again this week. Last night were HOA elections and I got another two year term to serve. (cause according to everyone else, I don't have enough to do). Today is report card check, tomorrow an appt. at the JCC and a meeting at Whims for my choo choo ride crop in April. Thursday night is report card pick up at school and conference night. Friday I WILL collapse.

We have a slow weekend ahead but our last one before we head up to Philly next week. Yikes, I am tired just typing it all.

Have a great Tuesday everyone.

eggie hunt

well, we stuffed 500 plastic eggies and thankfully the rain held out until our event was over. we had NO idea just how many kiddos would show up as this is the first time we did this. It was a great success and I think they all had a fantastic time.

It is now pouring so I will go upload my photos.

Happy day before Easter.

FINALLY Friday

and let me tell you, I am thrilled that it is here!! TGIF!!
It has been a LONG week. Yes, I know, it has been the same length as any other week, but it has certainly FELT longer than usual.

I think that I have finally recuperated from the walk ms event last weekend. Still can NOT believe the incredible support out there. Team Durning is up to $8000 and they have xtended the deadline for donations until May 9th. So open your hearts and your checkbooks PUHLEEZE and let us make out goal of $10k.

Tuesday night, i cooked dinner for 20. YIKES. I know that some(most) would say big deal, but I haven't done that in awhile. We have a wonderful group of tutors from NYU doing their Spring Break down here at volunteering at our school. The children are luving the additional attention and what a great bunch of college kids this year. So, I volunteered to cook for them and they were so appreciative. It was a very nice, relaxing evening. They never did jump into the pool-don't tell them, but I think it was even a bit too cold for THEM. LOL.

Got a phonecall at 7:17 am yesterday while I was still in bed and hadn't had my first sip of coffee yet. My job share partner had been in a car accident and was pretty badly shaken up. Thankfully, she wasn't hurt. However, the last day of testing was yesterday and she was a wreck. So I hopped up(and don't ask me how) but I was out of thehouse and in my car at 7:40am. I arrived in my classroom by 8:10am and was giving the Math NRT at 8:30. It made for a VERY long day for me. Then we had the HOA Board of Director's over last night to stuff 500 Easter eggs for the community event to be held Saturday morning.

So, I am dragging a bit this morning, but another cup of coffee and I should be just fine.

The drama of having school on Good Friday has been looming all week-NO bus drivers and more staff out than subs available. I will be interested in seeing how it all plays out. School is open from 6am til 6pm today to accomodate working parents who need to drop off and pick up kiddos.
I can tell ya, I might stay a little late, but I am NOT going in early today.............

I am meeting with another hotel this afternoon to discuss location for the MS Crop 4 Hope and I am hopeful. I saw it once already, absolutely FELL IN LUV with the space, now to hash out the little details.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone. Hope the Easter Bunny is good to everyone and may you all find the golden egg!!

Also hope that everyone who has been feeling under the weather, is hip hop by Sunday.
Huggles,
Jax

walk ms Tampa goes down in the history books

WOW!! What an incredible event the NMSS hosted last evening. Let me tell you........WOW. The venue, Lowry Park Zoo was awesome!! There were nearly 100 people there just to volunteer. I think the zoo people estimated about 800 or so walking. It was absolutely amazing.

At the end, we got a count of nearly $110,000 and I can tell you that is NOT it. MANY people had more money online and other pledges etc. I can tell you that I have nearly $1000 coming in from Sun Trust bank donations and over $500 waiting to be turned in. Plus donations that dh is still collecting from his facilities.

It was incredibly moving for so many people but I have to tell you. I had former students(one who is graduating from college in just a few months and was in my SECOND grade class oh so many years ago), present students and their families, more former students and nearly my ENTIRE third grade team at Bay Crest there for support. Many walked, others volunteered and ALL of them made me feel like I was the ONLY one there!! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!! You move me to tears, every last one of you!!

I do NOT have one single photo to share of the event as my camera never made it out of my bag. However, yet another personal friend, professional photographer Tony Alt was there taking team shots and action shots too. So I am hopeful that I will get some copies of them all.

BIG shout out to Doris, Phil, Melissa and Jamie with the NMSS. You ALL outdid yourselves. Jackie Callaway, you are one incredible lady and I enjoyed seeing you at the park today with your kiddos.

As for the phenominal walk ms committee this year. Thank you. You ladies are amazing and I truly feel priviledged to work with you and watch this whole thing come together because of all of our hard work. Can't wait til next year. Shelly, happy wedding. Deb, we MUST do coffee SOON. and I am off to crash and try to recuperate. I have a day or two before my planning begins for the MS Crop 4 Hope '08 gets underway.

Much luv to you all,
Capt. Jax

The BIG day

is almost here and I am as ready as I am ever going to be.
T-shirts came out very cute. I am pleased with them and oh are they BRIGHT. Team Durning will surely be noticed!!

There is still time to donate, if you would like to help make a difference, please do. No $$ amnt is too small or too big and every single penny is helpful and appreciated greatly.

The weather is icky right now and raining most of the day. Hopefully it will have rained itself out by tom. afternoon. The Walk doesnt' begin til 6:30pm but I have to arrive MUCH earlier than that to help set up and get it all organized.

Hoping that Barb and G-a have had some luck finding a skilled nursing facility. DH gave them a lead or two. Sending good thoughts down their way.

I am going to try to get to sleep earlier than usual tonite as the new meds are doing little to nothing at all to help battle this fatigue. I guess I am going thru a relapse, but this too shall pass. It could be a WHOLE lot worse. Joshy cooperated today so that truly helps.

If you have nothing to do tomorrow night, come out and show your support and get into the zoo for free..........

Have a great weekend.
Cpt. Jax

PLEASE help us to achieve a world free of MS. Every $1 counts and it is all tax deductible.

the countdown is on

As most of you know if you bother to read(yes both of you and u know who u r), it is National MS Awareness Week.
I am finding the daily emails inspiring and hopefully they have helped others.

The countdown to our Walk is on. We will meet at the zoo Saturday afternoon for the first evening walk in Tpa. I have MORE than enough volunteers for the event, I have achieved one of my goals as Team Captain this year and hope to achieve the other before the deadline in April.

I wanted to grow my walk team to be MORE than just my closest friends and family supporting me and I am proud to say that Ihave people registered to walk on TEAM DURNING that I do not even know!! Goal #1-acheived.
Goal #2 was to take Team Durning to a $10,000 goal and we are sitting at just over $7,000 right now. I am fairly confident that we will more than surpass my goal as many have not turned in their pledges yet. For those of you who would like to donate, please visit the website and help us to create a world free of MS.

I went to see my neuro yesterday and I am thrilled to report that I LUV HER!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so fortunate to have such a wonderfully caring physician. She changed one of my meds and I will hopefully do well on the new one and start feeling less fatigued. Keep ya posted.

FCAT will be over for my 3rd graders today for the week and Team Durnicchi won the first round of the infamous Kickball Tournament at school. We outscored the other team by 15 runs and this was achieved by students that had never even played kickball before. They are such adorble lil teammates. So, next round is today after lunch. Go TEAM DURNICCHI.

Off to be creative. I haven't done anything this week creatively and I am missing it. Happy Thursday.

chipboard chipboard chipboard

I have/had it everywhere. It was making me looney to try to keep it all together. it is a newer obsession of mine to buy it in every color..........but it was spilling outta every container, shelf etc.

So, I am proud to say it is ALL completely organized right now. I decided to go with color. I like the idea of organizing it by letter of the alpha, BUT, I am not one to mix it up . So I figured if they are all together by color and font, I have got a better shot at finding what I need.

Now I struggled with where to put it, what to buy to organize it and then it hit me like a $1750 DUH.
The ScrapBox in my room has NUMEROUS empty bins that I had yet to fill. Well, I am proud to say that fifteen of them are now filled with chipboard and bling and I still have plenty of empties.

As Joshy would say, "Mommy, you are a genius".

the WIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG for those of you NOT living in the Tpa Bay area, let me just tell you what kind of crazy weather we are having.
It was almost 80 degrees yesterday and BLAH .....the skies opened up like you would NOT believe last night. Not sure what the rain total was, but it was ALOT. The pool is emptying and wow. Now this morning, the wind is howling and although the sun is shining we have dropped about 20+ degrees.

Just to give you some idea of how windy it is: DH opened the front door to go outside for a minute and we heard a huge CRASH!! the wind blew the dooor out of his hand and then blew an 8x10 picture off the wall upstairs. Can u imagine.?

Thankfully, it was a cheap-o frame and no doggies, people or kiddos were injured in this wind blast. Driving in it is going to be fun later.

Off to do some laundry for a change. Happy Saturday.

Feeling

Kinda BLAH. The weather this week has been bleak and it has put me in a dreary mood as well. I "can't like it one bit".

So, that explains why I have not been posting........feeling to icky. I have also been feeling VERY overwhelmed with life in general and even broke down and called my neuro today. Of course, won't hear anything back til Monday, but I called.

MS fatigue is like no other I can explain.........worse than being 38 weeks pg and my meds do NOT seem to be working at all the last few weeks. Oh well. There are far worse things than feeling tired, so I am not going to complain.

I am happy that the weekend has arrived. I have a baby shower to attend for one of my teammates tomorrow and some more Volunteer assignments for the WALK next Saturday. It is all falling into place though. YEAH.

I will be quite happy when it is over though.

Monday begins NATIONAL MS AWARENESS WEEK. So all of you out there, be aware!! LOL. and do something nice to help those of us out that suffer from this silly disease!!

Have a great weekend. FCAT is coming.

productive

So far, it has been a productive day!! I have been working for weeks on packaging and organizing "stuff" to take to and sell at the Whim-so-Doodle scrappin yard sale.
Let me tell you, it was WELL worth the efforts.

I made $171.50-$10 fee for the table/booth rental and I am one VERY happy scrapper!! In addition, I have sold a bunch of stuff on Ebay in the last few weeks and I have managed to scrape together enough $$ to go on the WSD choo choo excursion to St. Augustine. I am very xcited.

BIG thanks to Amanda for sharing the space and her efforts while we tag teamed the table. I didn't spend much at all, cept for the $2 Jules wiggled outta my pocket.

Now to put the left overs away :(
Happy Saturday all,
